- The phrase "neurotransmitter disorders" refers to a set of hereditary disorders caused by abnormalities in the activities of neurotransmitters.
- There are around 50 neurotransmitters that have been identified as connecting nerve cells.
- Neurotransmitters are key chemical messengers that control brain, muscle, and organ functions through nerve cells.
Causes
- NTDs are genetic illnesses, the majority of the time the reason is an
aberrant mutation in genetic materials associated with neurotransmitter
functioning.
- They are also caused by improper synthesis (creation), metabolism
(growth and reproduction), and catabolism (breakdown) of any of the
neurotransmitters, which results in chemical reactions being out of
balance.
