Robotics-Assisted Therapy

Treatments and Programs

Where advanced technology meets the potential of every child.

Robotics-Assisted Therapy

At SNEH, we embrace innovation to create new possibilities in pediatric rehabilitation. Robotics-Assisted Therapy combines specialised rehabilitation techniques with robotic technology to help children practise purposeful movements, develop motor skills, and work towards greater functional independence.

For children experiencing movement and coordination difficulties, repetitive, goal-oriented practice can be an important part of rehabilitation. Robotics-assisted systems can provide structured, measurable, and engaging opportunities to practise selected movements under the guidance of trained therapists, with activities tailored to each child’s abilities and therapeutic goals.

Our focus remains on the child — using technology as a tool to support meaningful progress, build confidence, and make rehabilitation more engaging.

How Does Robotics-Assisted Therapy Work?

Robotics-assisted rehabilitation uses specialised devices to support or guide selected movements during therapy. Depending on the equipment and the child’s needs, these systems may assist with movement practice, provide feedback, and help therapists monitor performance over time.

Robotics-assisted therapy may support:

  • Repetitive Movement Practice: Opportunities to practise specific movements in a structured and consistent manner.

  • Motor Control & Coordination: Activities designed to support movement accuracy, timing, and coordination.

  • Strength & Functional Mobility: Guided practice targeting selected functional movements, depending on the equipment used.

  • Visual Feedback & Engagement: Interactive feedback that can help children understand their movements and stay motivated.

  • Progress Monitoring: Objective measurements that may help therapists review performance and adjust therapy goals.

  • Goal-Oriented Rehabilitation: Structured sessions designed around individual functional objectives.

Who May Benefit from Robotics-Assisted Therapy?

Depending on the child’s clinical condition, functional abilities, and the technology available, robotics-assisted rehabilitation may be considered for children with:

  • Cerebral palsy and associated motor impairments.

  • Developmental delays affecting movement.

  • Neurological conditions that influence motor control.

  • Brain or spinal cord injuries.

  • Muscle weakness and impaired coordination.

  • Difficulties with balance, mobility, or functional movement.

  • Other conditions requiring specialised motor rehabilitation.

Suitability is determined through an individual assessment. Robotics-assisted therapy is not appropriate for every child or every condition, and its role depends on the specific device and rehabilitation goals.

Our Approach at SNEH

Individualised Clinical Assessment

We consider each child’s medical history, movement abilities, functional needs, and rehabilitation goals before determining whether robotics-assisted therapy may be appropriate.

Therapist-Guided Sessions

Technology complements the expertise of our therapists. Each session is supervised and adapted according to the child’s comfort, abilities, and response to treatment.

Goal-Oriented Practice

Activities are selected to support relevant functional goals, helping children practise movements that contribute to participation in everyday life.

Integration with Conventional Therapy

Where appropriate, robotics-assisted sessions are incorporated into a broader rehabilitation programme that may include neurodevelopmental treatment, strengthening, balance training, mobility practice, and functional activities.

Progress Evaluation

Therapists review the child’s response and progress to help guide ongoing treatment decisions and modify goals when needed.

Family Involvement

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to understand the purpose of therapy, the child’s goals, and how functional skills can be supported beyond the clinical setting.

Technology with a Purpose

At SNEH, we believe that innovation is most valuable when it serves a child’s individual needs. Robotics-assisted therapy offers additional ways to practise movements, engage in rehabilitation, and measure selected aspects of performance — while compassionate, skilled clinical care remains at the heart of every session.

Every child follows a different developmental journey. Our aim is to use appropriate technology alongside personalised therapy to help each child work towards greater participation, confidence, and independence.

SNEH — Advancing pediatric rehabilitation through innovation, expertise, and a belief in every child’s potential.
